Looking Back

All week, I've been going through all the boxes, crates, and suitcases, full of photos and heritage documents Gramma has collected and saved all her life. Scanning and editing the photos I hope to have published in the family newsletter. I've visited with Gramma a couple different times this week, asking questions about the photos. She has so much. There's old newspaper announcements and articles about family members; education and job accomplishments, birth and marriage announcements.

I love sitting on Gramma's bed with her, talking with her about the days when she was a child and young adult. Even though her body has failed her, her mind and memory are sharp as a tack.

Here's one of the photos I liked, Gramma was 12 years old with some of her brothers and sisters. She's the one sitting tallest in the photo, June 1933.

Tonight, I wonder what I will tell my grandchildren of my life. At the moment, my life seems so uneventful, too busy living it.

Your grandma's photos are in excellent condition. I have some of my grandpa's photos and scanned them too. It's a long process, especially those that need touching up.

Hi Cheryl,
Thanks for stopping by my blog, was good to hear from you. Glad to see you're into genealogy too. It's very addicting! You're lucky you still have your Gramma and parents to ask questions about family. I've had to do a lot of my investigating the hard way, with very little info to go from. Have lucked out the last year and found several "distant" cousins that were researching same families, and they gave me a wealth of info! Incredible! Have fun with your project, some day your kids will thank you for it!

How fun looking at the old photographs, and getting that glimpse of life in the past. I was recently looking at some old family photographs but, I don't have anyone to ask about the photographs.

Just dropping by to leave some hugs.
