Foggy to Sunny...

Today started out very, very foggy in my neighborhood. This photo was taken about 10:30 a.m. this morning as I was leaving for work. The fog was lifting in some parts of town by the time I got to work. I brought my camera with me just in case I had the chance to get out and do some shooting after work.

By the time I finished up with work, dinner was cooking and there wasn't any time for photo shooting. Dang! I hate it when that happens. No time for me. My son had dinner done for me when I walked in the door. He's so good to me, sometimes.

The photo below, is when I got home tonight. I didn't take the time to line things up, not even enough time to line up the horizon. I was in too much of a hurry. I really like the morning shot better, but I wanted to show we did finally get some sunshine!

My guy is still on the road. It's been a really slow run this time. He had more than three days to get from Los Angeles, CA, to Portland, OR. Not good when you get paid by the mile. I kept asking him to come this way, take a little detour, and stop by for the weekend. Miles-wise, it was not a good idea. Thank goodness for cell phones. I miss him!

My son was finally able to get our outside Christmas lights down. He's been really sick this past couple of weeks with the crud. And, it's been so cold the past few weeks. With the sunshine this afternoon, he was able to get this done for me. While I was at work, he got alot of things done around the house. Gotta love him! He's a good kid.

All my furbabies are doing great. Peanut, our smallest Yorkie, he's doing so well. He truly is amazing. You would never know he was so sick when he was little, if you didn't already know. Isn't he cute?

My Photo Sunday #2

Along Highway 55, heading north from Boise... frost covered most all the vegetation. We haven't seen the sun in what seems to be a week. It's been freezing! At one point, we pulled over and stopped so I could try to get some shots. The frost was very pretty...

A hazy, overcast, foggy, cold day in Idaho... This is the Payette River along Hwy 55, looking south back towards Boise. We were about 20 minutes north of Boise here.
Pulling over whenever the opportunity arised, the SUN finally showed it's face! We had heard, if we got above the Treasure Valley, above the inversion, we could find the sunshine... Along the Paytte River...

North of Smith's Ferry is this single arched bridge. It's been one of my favorite photo opps for as long as I can remember. I wish I knew more about the bridge to share here with you...

We turned around here and headed back to Boise. After some dinner out, we found these Canadian Geese at Julia Davis Park in Boise.

This is a pond at Julia Davis Park. It was starting to get late...

The moon was rising and we decided to get home... Oh! And, as you can see, the sky cleared up in Boise too. We had a great day trip today.

Just a quick entry to THANK everyone for the Birthday wishes and cards! You are all great!

For those who know about my falling out with my family during the holidays, I am happy to let you know, I received a Birthday card from my daughter! It was short and to the point, but a communication from her in any case. I was tickled pink! Both my parents and my daughter, and even one of my brothers I rarely talk to, sent me Birthday wishes.

It's MY Birthday, tomorrow... Friday, January 21st.

I want to treat myself to more photo paraphernalia. LOL I'll settle for a day trip full of photo opps. Weather should be perfect, mid to upper 40's, partly cloudy, all weekend.

I'm not expecting much, it's after Christmas and most of us are still paying off our holiday spending. I did, however, receive a nice birthday card from my parents with a $50 gift certificate to one of my favorite restaurants. Funny, they live just four miles up the road. I'm sure receiving this card in the mail will be all I hear from them. Well, considering all the trouble we've had recently, I am mildly surprised I received anything from them at all. I know they care about me. My daughter still isn't talking with me. She doesn't answer my calls or respond to my emails. My son has come down with a terrible cold, sore throat and all. And, my guy will be home tomorrow, he's been out a long time this time, almost two weeks, and he's caught the same bug as my son! I just hope to stay well.

The Last of My Photo Sunday

The sky was starting to overcast, it was getting late...

East of Boise, this is overlooking the Lucky Peak State Park and onto the Boise River to the west, shooting into the light from above the dam. Colors are washed out, but you can see the terrain. I've never seen the river so low before.

The sun is starting to set here, above the dam. Below the dam is Lucky Peak State Park. We drove across the dam to get here. Again, the water level is so low, the lowest I've ever seen. We're praying for lots of snow in the mountains north of Boise to fill our dams and rivers this summer.

Turning to the east, looking staight out, (the dam is just to the left here), this is Lucky Peak Reservoir. You can see where the water level normally is. It's shocking to see it so low. During summer months, the waters are filled with sail boats, jet skiers, fishing boats, and water skiers.

On the way home, the sky became incredibly purplish orange. By the time we could safely pull over to get a shot, this is what was left. Sunsets in Idaho are so amazing! I need to practice and take lots more sunset photos.

And for my final shot of My Photo Sunday shots, another picture of Bogus Basin. The sun had set by now but the sky was still light. If you look closely, you will see the lights of Bogus Basin's famous night skiing lights. You can also see the lights of vehicles traveling down the mountain. I hope you enjoyed My Photo Sunday. I plan to do more and more photo shooting and sharing the photographs here.

A furbaby update: Peanut has totally caught up to Rodney in weight and size! Both boys went to the doctor tonight after work to get their final vaccinations. They weighed in at 3 lbs. 8 ozs. each! The doc said we can stop the Prednisone drops Peanut has been taking since he was 6 weeks old. We had gotten the dose down to 0.03 ml every fourth day. The boys are pretty much potty trained, and walking on leases like big boys. I'm so proud!

This is my town... Boise, Idaho...

The downtown city of Boise is in a canyon created by the Boise River. The city itself, sprawls up over a couple different geological benches.

These first three shots of the Capitol were taken from the Boise Depot park, overlooking Capitol Boulevard and the Capitol.

The reflection of the Capitol Building on the building behind the Capitol. I have always thought this would be a great photo, if I could capture what I see in real life. I might try again in the spring when the trees are in bloom.

It's just my opinion, but I do think a couple of these shots are postcard worthy. I wonder how I could submit my photos for something like that?? Something to look in to.

All this photo taking and posting has really taken my mind off the troubles of my holidays. I haven't heard from my daughter or my parents since the big blow-up before Christmas. My birthday is a week away, next Friday the 21st, and I suppose I will receive the same silent treatment I did at Christmas. Someone mentioned the other day, if you do not expect anything, then you are not disappointed when you don't get anything, or something like that. I will keep this in mind so that I'm not terribly disappointed. Who knows. Maybe I'll be mildly surprised.

My daughter should be in Mexico City, Mexico, Saturday the 15th. Her band is due to play a show there. She is not answering my calls or emails, so I have gone out to the band's website to see if the tour is still on. As far as I can tell, it's all a go. I hope she does well and is able to see the sights... and someday be able to share with me the fun she has there.

My Photo Sunday continued...

We dropped the trailer to be unloaded later and bobtailed back to Boise through very rural Idaho.

We came upon a sheepherder's cabin in the center of this pasture, no sheep in sight.
We took the next road and headed up this country lane in search of sheep. Our eyes caught this incredibly colored, overgrown, wild rose bush that had gone to seed on the side of the road.
At the next turn we found llamas. While I was hanging out of the passenger side of the truck, shooting these pictures, the llama's owner came out and tossed them some hay. The llamas seemed to be ignoring us.


We finally found the sheep that went with the sheepherder's cabin. They were way out there! I zoomed in as close as I could with my 10x optical lens from a hillside above the pasture.
From here, we continued our journey back to Boise. We stopped by the house, checked on the dogs and downloaded pictures. After spending some time with my son and the dogs, we drove on into Boise to get more photos of our city. I'll post those tomorrow.

My Photo Sunday

We got up early and went trucking. My guy needed to unload thirty miles from home so I brought my new camera to play with and went with him. Here's what I found...

This is my guy's big truck. He drives for a small, local company, making sure all the loads arrive safe and on time.

Pallets. I found the stacks of pallets to be photo interesting while waiting to drop or unload the trailer. The trade of pallets from one load to another is something else. Some companies will refuse loads if the pallets are not of their expected quality.

We were supposed to get up to four inches of the white stuff Sunday morning... There was barely a dusting of snow, early Sunday morning. Most had melted away before noon.
